A C C w as b a ck at S O F A in a
b ig w a y , w ith an e xh ib itio n o f
w o rk b y 27 A C C G o ld M ed a l
w in n ers. A p t ly titled “ G o ld ,”
th e exh ib itio n w as o rgan ized

M o n ro e , A C C trustee and
d irecto r em eritus o f th e B elle -
vu e A r ts M u seu m in W a s h in g -

“ G o ld ” p ic k e d up w h ere
the C o u n cil le ft o ff in 1993,
w h e n it h o sted its last m ajor
e xh ib itio n o f go ld m edalists
at S O F A C h ic a g o . T h is y e a r’s
e xh ib itio n sh o w e d the w o rk
o f A C C go ld m edalists from
1994 to 2010, in clu d in g D a le
C h ih u ly (glass), J a ck L e n o r
L a rsen (fib er), T o s h ik o T a k a -
ezu (clay), A lb e r t P a le y (m etal),
and W e n d e ll C a stle (w o o d ).
T h e G old M ed al is the C oun cil’s
h igh est h on or, re co gn izin g
e xtraord in ary artistry and
con su m m ate craftsm anship.

T h e “ G o ld ” e xh ib itio n , in
fa ct, represen ts a k in d o f restart
o f the C o lleg e o f F e llo w s aw ards
program , w h ich began in 1975.
H arg est poin ts to a n um ber o f
changes under w a y to strengthen
the program . F o r exam ple, fe l-
lo w s w ill be nam ed e v e r y oth er
ye a r, rather than an n ually, w ith
the possibility that m ore indivi-
duals w ill b e h on ored each tim e.

alon g w ith an e xh ib itio n , w ill be
h eld at S O F A C h icago , b egin -
nin g in 2012. A n d H arg est w ill
b e d eve lo p in g edu cation al p ro -
